2010 Golf Celebrities

Thanks to all the celebrities that came out and joined us in 2010!

larry newLarry the Cable Guy- Git-R-Done!  Larry was born in the back of an El Camino during a Foghat concert.  He has been touring for over 20 years and has enjoyed success with his Blue Collar friends, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Ron White.  His debut CD, Lord, I Apologize, appeared in 2001 and sticking in the Top 20 for two years!  His movies include Health Inspector, Delta Farce, and the voice of everyone’s favorite tow truck, Mater!

bill engvall newBill Engvall- Born in Galveston, Texas, Bill Engvall was a nightclub DJ in Dallas until the call to comedy became too strong to deny.  In 1992, he was awarded Best Male Standup at the American Comedy Awards.  In addition to his work with the Blue Collar Comedy tour, Bill has worked on his own show, The Bill Engvall Show, Country Fried Home Videos and movies such as Delta Farce and Baitshop.

Jeff Foxworthy- One one of the most respected and successful comedians in the country, he is the largest selling comedy-recording artist in history, a multiple Grammy Award nominee and best selling author of 11 books.  In addition to his success with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, Jeff also hosted the syndicated radio program The Foxworthy Countdown for 10 years and is the current host of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”

Ron White-Comedian Ron “Tater Salad” White is best known as the cigar smoking, scotch drinking funnyman from the “Blue Collar Comedy” phenomenon.  He has two Grammy nominations, a Gold Record, two of the top rated one-hour specials in Comedy Central history, and a book that appeared on the New York Times Best Seller List  Ron will be making a cameo appearance in “Sex in The City 2” which premieres May 2010.

Joey Fatone-Joey Fatone first tasted fame as one of the five pop artists of the popular boyband ‘N Sync. When ‘N Sync disbanded, he decided to use his creative genius elsewhere, appearing in a Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors and in highly-acclaimed films such as My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Fatone also appeared on Dancing with the Stars, placing second on the popular show.

DAVEY JOHNSON NEWDavey Johnson- As a major league ball player, Johnson reached the World Series reached the World Series 4 times with The Baltimore Orioles in the late 60′s and earl 70′s, and won it all twice with them.  He has the distinction of being the last person to get a hit off of Sandy Koufax.  After his career ended in ’78, Johnson became the head coach of the New York Mets where he won the World Series as a head coach in 1986.

Dennis Rasmussen- Dennis was a starting pitcher for Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres and then played with New York Yankees Cincinnati Reds,Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals He batted and threw left-handed. In 1988, his 14-4 record with the Padres tied him with for the team single season Won-Loss record (.778).

sean astinSean Astin- Astin starred as beloved Sam Gamgee in the Academy Award winning “The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.”   The three films have grossed over $3 billion world-wide and have entered the history books of classic cinema.  Astin is well known for playing the title role in the critically acclaimed “Rudy” and for his feature debut in “The Goonies.”  His other film credits include “The Final Season,” “What Love Is,”  “Click,” “Fifty First Dates,” “Courage Under Fire,” and ”Memphis Belle,”

Frank Viola Jr./Frank Viola III- Frank Jr., nicknamed “Sweet Music” played in the Major League for 15 years from 1982-1996.  His career was highlighted by being named the MVP of the 1987 World Series with the Minnesota Twins and winning the American League “Cy Young Award” in 1988.  Frank was a three-time All Star, was the 18th pitcher in the history of the game to win 20 games in both leagues, and had the most wins by any pitcher in baseball over a ten year span between 1984-1993.
Frank Viola III started a website calledthefishingtube.com, an entertainment and social based website that will launch it’s first show called “Reel Fishing” on October 7. 2010.  Reel Fishing is a reality based fishing show that boasts comedy, celebrity, and hi-jinks!!


PGA Golfers Scheduled to Appear:

boo weekley newBoo Weekley- Since joining the PGA in 2007, Boo already has 35 finishes in the Top 25.  He has 2 wins, both at the Verizon Heritage in 2007 and 2008.  He is nicknamed after cartoon hero Yogi Bear’s sidekick, “Boo Boo” Bear.

brian davis newBrian Davis- Hailing from England, Brian joined the PGA in 2006.  He has placed in the Top 10 an impressive 16 times.  He has recently been noted as quite the sportsman as he called his own foul at the Verizon Heritage that cost him a PGA victory.

Lee Janzen- Lee has won eight times on the PGA Tour, most notably the 1993 and 1998 US Opens. In 1993, Janzen defeated Payne Stewart tying the 72-hole US Open scoring record of 8-under par. Janzen again bested Stewart to win his second US Open.  Janzen came from 5 shots behind on Sunday, marking the best final-round comeback since 1973
